Many of my students have been asking me to put up a tutorial on how best to recreate an image or graphic, so here you go! This technique relies heavily on the pen tool, arguably Illustrators' most powerful tool. Starting with a base image, which could either be a photograph or a graphic you can trace over it to create your own version of the image that is uniquely yours. In this case I used this cute little elephant statue I found online then traced over it to create the version you see here.
